EDB MANUAL, SECTION D - STAFF ACTIONS

D13.0 EDB STAFF ACTIONS - LEAVE ACCRUAL CODES FOR STAFF EMPLOYEES ELIGIBLE TO EARN VACATION (as of June 2000)

An employee appointed at 50 percent or more of full time for a period of six months or more is eligible to earn vacation from the date of the appointment.
An employee who is not eligible to earn vacation because of a fractional or short-term appointment becomes eligible to earn vacation after six continuous months or quadriweekly cycles on pay status at 50 percent or more.  Please note that employees that are eligible to earn vacation are eligible to be paid for all accrued vacation through their last day of work even if six months have not been completed.

*A month on pay status at 50% time or more is counted as a month of qualifying service, and a quadriweeky cycle on pay status at 50% time or more is counted as a quadriweekly cycle of qualifying service.

Service includes: staff and academic service at the University; service for the State of California (including Hastings College of The Law); the Department of Energy Laboratories (DOE), and the California State University; and military leave from the same institutions.
